Q: How much does trim work like crown molding or shiplap walls cost? Are your upgrades cheaper than my builder?

We can’t speak to the price points of all the builders in the area. However, we can tell you that we base our prices on the labor involved and the cost of materials. Q: Will a new fence, deck, patio, porch, or other exterior home renovation increase your home value?

The short answer is YES. A deck, porch, patio or similar structure can add value to your home when it is appraised and increase your resale value. Having recently upgraded things like gutters can be a selling point when it comes to home inspections as well. If in the future you choose to rent your home you may be able to ask a higher rental price if you have an outdoor area that tenants can enjoy. Making small improvements to the outside of your home can also boost your home's curb appeal and make it stand out from other homes in the area making it easier to sell.

Building a deck or patio is a great way to improve the property value of your home. However, the cost can still vary greatly depending on the features you want to include. The average cost to build a deck is around $30 per square foot. Most homeowners spend somewhere between $1200 to as much as $10,000. An entry-level deck with basic materials can cost as little as $25 per square foot but a multi-level deck with premium features and materials can cost around $35 per square foot.

Fencing is something we get a lot of inquiries about. Wood fencing is the most popular and there is still a broad price range based on the quality of materials you want and the size of the area you’d like to cover. Typically homeowners pay an average of $2000-3000 to install a wood fence. Wood fencing costs roughly $17-45 per linear foot.
